MAKE the CHANGE
VOTE for the ALLIANCE

WHY WE'RE HERE
The potholes, the litter, the closing libraries, the overstretched child and adult care services...
If you see either of our MPs trawling local Conservative candidates - or jumping on a litter-pick or lawnmower for 5 minutes - in your area soon, be respectful but, please think about this... The Revenue Support Grant (from Central Government) was money we used to get, to redistribute national taxation, to account for local differences. Herefordshire Council relied on it, and it was a fair system This has now been reduced to nil! This means the Council has lost £90M per year(adjusted for inflation) of funding for our services. According to the National Audit Office, up to 15 English Councils now risk insolvency, forcing them to offer the "bare minimum". Both our MPs, Bill Wiggin and Jesse Norman, repeatedly voted in favour of slashing this funding! They even voted against "expressing regret" at this situation AND have also voted against "resolving to base future decisions on Local Government funding on fairness, protecting front-line services and promoting growth."*

THE "B" WORD...
Local Authorities have no say whatsoever on Brexit (or nuclear weapons, the NHS, etc. - these are amongst the responsibilities of National Government); but, if you want to send a message to Westminster, please feel free to punish this Government at the Local Polls, by voting for an "Herefordshire Alliance" candidate.
SPLITTING THE VOTE
Only 41% of Herefordshire voted for a Conservative Council; but, we got a 100% Conservative controlled Council! They have misspent our money, failed to examine many irregularities and shortcomings in the way senior Council Officers work; and, sold just about every bit of family silver our Council have left - including 9000 acres of Council Farms! Make the change, vote for the Alliance.

WHY YOU'RE HERE
This website has been setup to support the much-welcomed collaborative efforts of the: Herefordshire Independents, It's Our County and the Herefordshire Green Party, to support each other and work towards an "Herefordshire Alliance" coalition, should they be successful on May 2nd.
Please have a look at - which Councillors, in which Wards - have signed-up to the Herefordshire Alliance principles. Those listed have agreed to support working with each other; thus moving Herefordshire Council from its existing Cabinet System of governance (whereby, only 8 Councillors - out of 53 elected! - make almost all of the decisions) to a more representative Committee System; allowing most Councillors, from across the different groups, to get more say. This means that You, the voter, have a much better chance of having your voice heard.
Central Government has failed us - it's time to work together locally, and make positive changes; not just for our county, but in the way that different groups work together, here in Herefordshire.

SPREAD THE
WORD...
This site will be constantly updated and corrected as necessary. Not all candidates have, as yet, signed-up to the pledge - as and when they do, we will adjust the list.
Please feel free to get in-touch; and please share the link to the site. Tell your family and friends, that there is a way to make a change on Herefordshire Council; and bring in a more modern, more responsive, more representative administration.
